7 Ways to Support Local Businesses During Covid19
THINK – SHOP SMALL!
There are so many small businesses out there and we think it’s so important to shop small as well as support local businesses when you can.
Whether your friend has a small business, or you have discovered a wonderful business online or on your local high street, show them some love and attention especially now more than ever.
Here are 7 ways you can support small businesses, with most being completely free…
LIKE, COMMENT AND SHARE POSTS
Most small businesses are on social media as it’s a great way to get their business and brand noticed, share products/services with you and for keeping you up to date with their latest news and introducing you to their own story.
As simply as engaging with their post by liking, commenting and sharing content you will be supporting them by getting their business in front of many more people and ultimately more potential.
RECOMMEND TO FAMILY AND FRIENDS
One of the best ways to show your support is through word of mouth. Talking about a small business and recommending them to family and friends will help them get new customers and hopefully get more people to spread the word. Recommendations are by far the greatest gift you can give to a business.
WRITE A POSITIVE REVIEW
Reviews are so helpful for a small business as this shows their business and brand as a trusted place to buy from, helping others make the decision to purchase their product or service.
You may be able to write a review on their website, Facebook page or simple drop them an email to tell them your thoughts on the product which they can then share across their platforms. A review carries such weight for the conscientious consumer in the final decision process, so take the time and write that review.
SIGN UP TO THE NEWSLETTERS
Newsletters are a great way to stay up to date with business news, new products and information on products or services. Help them grow their email list by signing up and sharing the link to encourage others to do so too.
SEND THEM A PERSONAL MESSAGE
Often small businesses are only one person or a small team of people. One personal message can make someone’s day and boost morale. So, drop them a personal message over email or on social media to let them know how much you love their business and why.
Not only will this put a smile on their face, it will be the motivation and encouragement they might need to keep going, as right now they are truly trading and operating in very difficult and uncertain times.
BE KIND
Yes be kind – this is one of our key points at NAM and something we ask of all our clients, and working partners .We aren’t always going to agree with things we see and read , and we definitely have the right to have our own opinions , thoughts and judgements , but we should in regards to business – keep them to ourselves or speak direct to the business owner.
If you’ve received a poor service, an inadequate product – tell them first. Give them the feedback and give them the opportunity to rectify and therefore improve. Do not take to social media, and/or give that negative review without speaking to them personally first – we truly don’t know the background story so communicate properly.
99% of business owner want to give the very best service and products, and live and breathe their business. But yes at time’s it’s hard and we all make mistakes but …just be kind. Sabotaging someone’s business and reputation for that one mistake is not good or the right thing to do.
Our mantra is always – What good will can from what I’m going to say? So think first and be kind.
BUY FROM THEM
All of the above points show you how easy it is to support a small business by spending nothing at all, maybe just require your time and effect.
But of course, nothing will support them more than buying from them. So, as Christmas is approaching, think ‘shop small’ and choose a small business to support instead of reaching for giant retailers
